New weight of sale feature ideal for courier deliveries

Woottens of Wenhaston is a beautiful nursery in Suffolk offering herbaceous hardy perennials and specialising in Auriculas, Hemerocallis, Irises and Pelargoniums. We’re proud to welcome them as one of our newest clients – and one that has inspired us to introduce a powerful new feature.

Wottens has a thriving web sales operation and they use a courier to dispatch plants throughout the UK. Since delivery charges are calculated by weight of consignment, there was clearly an opportunity to introduce new functionality into Passfield that would address this issue.

And that’s precisely what we’ve done. Now, stock lines (products) can be given a weight value – and this can be bulk applied to save time. And in shipping setup, weight bands can be created with ‘from’ and ‘to’ weight values.

So, how does this help? Each time stock lines are added to a sales order, Passfield automatically calculates the cumulative weight and displays this on the order header. Once the order’s complete, the user then simply clicks the “Apply Charge” button – this adds a dispatch charge as a sales line to the order.

So you might get:

  • Total weight of order- 5.7 (kilos)
  • Sales line- ‘Shipping fee 3-6 kilos £8.99

If your business uses a courier service that charges by weight, this feature is sure to be a significant time-saver.

If you’d like to find out more about this new feature – or any other aspect of Passfield, please call us on 01404 514 4000 or email sales@passfield.com and we’ll be happy to help.
